I used Copic markers.  For my diary strips, those are more throwaway, so I did them digitally.  With bigger pieces, I use Copics, pencil crayons, and I want to start in with water colours too.  Digital always looks digital, and it's what 90% of people use, so that's reason enough not to do it ;)

I agree, that's why I have started using markers as well. Quality can be variable but I think the scanning process is key.  I have a lot of optimisation to do yet I think!
I've used watercolours a bit as well and they can be great but the vibrancy never transferred well to a computer screen for me.
I look forward to seeing how you get on!

I find that I need to scan at a much higher resolution, 1200x1200, to keep the detail, then lower it to a reasonable 300x300 in Photoshop.
